Go ahead and file this under the best news you’ll hear all day. Samuel L. Jackson has been announced as one of the new voices of Amazon’s Alexa devices, available in “explicit and non-explicit.”
Jackson is among other celebrities who have agreed to lend their voices to the artificial intelligence device as part of a 99-cent upgrade, according to an Amazon product announcement in Seattle. Amazon will launch the new feature later this year for a “special price” of $0.99 for anyone who purchases it in 2019 (after which it’ll cost $4.99). Amazon says more celebrity voices will arrive next year and thanks to some new tech, unlike other celebrity voice integrations on Alexa, the new version doesn’t rely on prerecorded phases.
To get started, just say, “Alexa, introduce me to Samuel L. Jackson.” Then, choose whether you’d like Sam to use explicit language or not. If you change your mind later, simply go to the settings menu of the Alexa app to toggle between clean and explicit content. You can also activate the skill here.
