The Brew Review featuring Abita, Lagunitas, & Sierra Nevada.

Riggs & Steve from The Morning HOG welcomed back Josh from S.R. Perrott for the final week of Dry January. We’re trying 6 drinks today & the first 3 are from Lagunitas with their Hoppy Refresher sparkling hop water series. First off is the Original; crisp, zingy, & hoppily refreshing. This sparkling beverage is made using everything Lagunitas knows about hops. Chock-full of Citra, Equinox, & Centennial hops, for a big splash of flavor that’s surprisingly fruity. Next up is the Blood Orange one, or Blorange as Lagunitas likes to call it. With a big splash of hops & a wave of blood orange; it’s crisp, tangy, & hoppily refreshing. It’s kind of like the aromatic sensation you get when you dig your thumb into a mini-tangerine. The last of this trio is the Berry Lemon. This one’s a blend of tart & fruity overtones with a nice herbaceousness; loud & complex.

After the boys took a quick break, they resumed the drinking with a couple from Sierra Nevada & one from Abita. Let’s take a look at the 2 from Sierra with their Hop Splash. Stay hydrated with Sierra Nevada Hop Splash, sparkling water with zero alcohol & maximum hop refreshment. Infused with Citra & Amarillo hops known for bright & fruity flavors. Hop Splash starts with the same water we use for brewing beer. It’s carbon-filtered to ensure the highest-quality H20 out of the gate. The other Hop Splash is the Citrus flavor. Take the fruity notes of Mosaic & Simcoe hops, add a perfect splash of real blood orange & grapefruit juice, & you’ve got a match for maximum flavor. And lastly, we branch out onto the weird tree with one from Abita with their Root Beer. Abita Root Beer is made with a hot mix process using spring water, herbs, vanilla, & yucca. Unlike most soft drink manufacturers, Abita sweetens its root beer with pure Louisiana cane sugar. The resulting taste is reminiscent of soft drinks made in the 1940s & 1950s, before bottlers turned to corn sugar & fructose. That’s it for the final week of Dry January & we certainly hope you enjoyed our non-alcoholic alternatives.
