The Brew Review brings you Sierra Nevada, Yuengling, Hofbräu, & Paulaner.

Riggs & Steve from The Morning HOG were accompanied by Josh from S.R. Perrott per usual. And, we’re continuing the autumn / Oktoberfest trend. Starting things out is one from Sierra Nevada called Oktoberfest Festbier cruising in at 6% ABV. Sierra Nevada is turning German-style craft beer on its head – just like we did stateside – and out mutual passion is fused in this Festbier that’s bright like polished copper, rich with biscuity malts, & balanced with a punchy blend of German & American hops. Up next is one from the popular brewery Yuengling called Oktoberfest with 5.3% ABV. A true representation of the style, Oktoberfest is a blend of Tettnang & Hallertau hops. Copper in color, this medium-bodied beer is the perfect blend of roasted malts with just the right amount of hops that serves up a slightly-sweet, toasted character & mild herbal bitterness.

After a short break, the boys resumed the drinking by grabbing a beer from Hofbräu called Oktoberfestbier with a nice 6.3% ABV. Luminous golden yellow with foamy white crown – you can already taste the refreshment: Slightly malty, full-bodied, mature & with an elegant finish. A beer with character for connoisseurs with character. The last sample of the day is a beer from Paulaner called Oktoberfest with 5.8% ABV. An amber beer style that was developed over 200 years ago to celebrate the original Oktoberfest. The Märzen name comes from “March beer” because it was historically brewed in March to be at peak flavor for the Oktoberfest celebration. That’s a wrap for this weeks Brew Review folks.
