FDOT Hearing Tonight On S.R. 44 Safety Improvements

New Smyrna Beach, FL – Volusia County residents are invited by the Florida Department of Transportation to an open house detailing safety improvements on S.R. 44 at Eddie Road and Ingham Road later today.

The work at Eddie Road includes a flashing yellow arrow signal for the eastbound left-turn lane on State Road 44. It also includes a green left arrow for both east and westbound lanes between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. The suggested changes include closing the current median opening at Fran Drive to extend the eastbound left-turn lane at Eddie Road and the westbound left-turn lane at Ellison Avenue.

The proposed work at Ingham Road would convert the existing median opening to a directional median opening. It would eliminate left turns onto State Road 44 from Ingham Road.

The event begins with an open house at 5 p.m., followed by a presentation at 6 p.m. at the Alonzo “Babe” James Community Center at 201 North Myrtle Avenue in New Smyrna Beach.
