Fatal Traffic Accident Takes Life Of New Smyrna Beach Man

New Smyrna Beach, FL – Florida Highway Patrol Lieutenant Kim Montes reports that 64-year-old Gary Boles of New Smyrna Beach died as the result of a traffic accident yesterday (November 25) afternoon.

The accident happened just before 4:30 p.m. when Boles, who was traveling westbound on S.R. 44, attempted a left turn to travel southbound on Samsula Drive in front of a vehicle traveling eastbound on S.R. 44. Boles pickup truck turned directly into the path of the eastbound vehicle. The front end of the eastbound vehicle hit the passenger side of Boles vehicle.

The FHP report shows that Boles was not wearing a seatbelt. He was taken to Halifax Health in Daytona Beach, where he later died. The driver of the other vehicle did not suffer injury.

FHP says the crash is still under investigation.
